Tokyo Haneda Airport in Japan has been named the world’s most punctual airport this year by Cirium. The ranking was part of their recently released report which also ranked the most punctual airlines of 2022.
The World’s Most Punctual Airports 2022
Tokyo Haneda International Airport was the world’s most punctual airport in 2022. Haneda’s impressive on-time departure rate of over 90% while handling nearly 400,000 flights has earned it the title of the top performing global airport of the year.
Haneda is, of course, the primary hub for both Japan’s flag carrier Japan Airlines and its largest carrier, All Nippon Airways. Unsurprisingly, both carriers also ranked in the top 10 carriers globally for on-time performance in 2022.
Outside of Japan, the other airports making the top 10 were concentrated in the United States where six of the top 10 were located. India was also represented with two of the top 10 most punctual airports while Colombia’s capital city airport in Bogota also made the list.

The report defined a flight to have departed on time if it departed within 15 minutes of scheduled departure.

Tokyo Haneda International Airport has long set the standard as one of the world’s very best airports. Serving Japan’s capital city of Tokyo, it’s always been known for its excellent operational performance. It’s now confirmed that reputation by adding an additional accolade celebrating finishing 2022 as the world’s most punctual airport, an award it previously earned prior to the pandemic.
