Bad news for Hilton Honors loyalists planning a trip to New York City. Travel Spill has confirmed that the Conrad New York Midtown hotel will leave the Hilton portfolio effective June 4, 2024.
Conrad New York Midtown Rebranding June 4, 2024
Rumors have been flying so we decided to get to the bottom of things in the absence of public confirmation from Hilton or the hotel. After an email to the hotel was left unanswered, we called earlier today seeking information for Hilton Honors members planning a stay at the hotel this summer.
Unfortunately, the rumors are true. The agent confirmed that the hotel will rebrand and leave the Hilton portfolio on June 4, 2024.
If you have an existing booking, we don’t have a lot of information yet. At this time, the front desk did not have any information regarding how existing reservations will be handled and promised more information in May.
In most cases, when hotels change brands, existing bookings are honored but elite benefits are often ignored. In other cases, your booking may be canceled or moved to a nearby hotel in the portfolio for award bookings.
For now, the Hilton website continues to show availability at the hotel including for awards.
If you are planning a trip to New York and want to stay at the hotel, it could be a good idea to get a speculative award booking in now before inventory is pulled. Keep in mind that the booking may not be honored after the hotel leaves the Hilton portfolio. Elite perks like the Hilton Honors food and beverage credit or MyWay benefit also may not apply.
At this time, it’s unclear if the hotel will continue operating as an independent hotel as it did before becoming a Conrad as The London NYC, or if it will transition to another brand. This is an especially tough loss for Hilton given that the hotel was recently renovated (although that also meant the hotel is no longer all-suite). Keep an eye on this space for updates.
Bottom line
The Conrad New York Midtown hotel will leave the Hilton portfolio effective June 4, 2024 meaning one fewer option in New York City for travelers loyal to Hilton. It’s unclear whether bookings confirmed prior to the hotel’s exit will be honored, and if elite benefits for Hilton Honors Diamonds and Golds will be honored once the hotel is not part of the Hilton portfolio.
